The cottage is the perfect place for those who like to walk, sitting as it does right next to the famous West Highland way, about 9 miles from its start in Milngavie. The WHW has good quality footpaths, which are mainly flat in this area, following the route of an old railway line. There are also a number of circular routes which can be taken from the cottage door, all away from main roads.

For those who prefer hills, the Campsie Fells are very nearby which provide lots of opportunity for enjoyable hillwalking. The most popular hill, Dumgoyne, is easily accessed from the West Highland Way 1.5miles from the cottage. This prominent hill provides a short, steep walk rising from behind the picturesque Glengoyne Distillery, and provides stunning views of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs on a clear day. Killearn walks

For serious hillwalkers, there are numerous munroes within easy reach in the nearby Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.
